The John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies at the Free University in Berlin has a very extensive collection on books relating to both the United States and Canada. Individuals with permanent European residence may apply for grants of one to three months' duration for the purpose of undertaking research at the institute library. Scholars and graduates at all stages of their careers may apply. Projects must deal with topics in the humanities or social sciences.
