International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS)

The International Council for Canadian Studies (ICCS) is a federation of twenty-two national and multinational Canadian Studies associations and six associate members in thirty-nine countries situated round the globe. The Central European Association joined the ICCS in 2004 as an associate member, acquiring full-member status in 2007.

ICCS graduate student scholarships

These scholarships enable students to spend 4-6 weeks at a Canadian university or research site doing research related to MA or doctoral theses in the field of Canadian Studies. The scholarship is intended to provide access to crucial scholarly information and resources in Canada in support of a thesis that is close to or at the point of writing.

Brian Long award for best doctoral thesis in Canadian Studies

This annual ICCS award is designed to recognize and promote an outstanding PhD thesis on a Canadian topic that contributes to a better understanding of Canada.

Note that item 6 in the list of required documents - a letter from the President of the member association - will be added to the dossier of the candidate chosen by the CEACS pre-selection committee when it is sent to Ottawa.

Canadian Studies Postdoctoral Fellowships

These fellowships are designed to enable young Canadian and foreign academics who have completed a doctoral thesis on a topic primarily related to Canada and are not employed in a full-time, university teaching position to visit a Canadian or foreign university with a Canadian Studies programme for a teaching or research fellowship.

Pierre Savard Awards

The Pierre Savard Awards are designed to recognize and promote outstanding scholarly monographs written by members of the Canadian Studies international community that contribute to a better understanding of Canada.
